General Election Dates for November 8, 2022

  • July 25, 2022 - Last day for established party managing committee to appoint someone to fill a vacancy when no candidate was nominated at the General Primary Election
  • August 1, 2022 - Last day to file objections to nomination papers, certificates of nomination, or resolutions for established party candidates filing to fill a vacancy.
  • August 8, 2022 - Last day for filing petitions for referenda for the submission of questions of public policy (local).  Objections to petitions for local referenda are filed with the same office as the original petitions were filed.
  • August 10, 2022 - First day for any registered voter presently within the confines of the United States, to make application by mail, electronically or in person to the election authority for an official vote by mail ballot.  Note: The mailing and delivery of ballots does not begin until Thursday, September 29, 2022.
  • August 15, 2022 - Last day to file objections to petitions for the submission of questions of public policy.
  • August 22, 2022 - Last day to adopt a resolution or ordinance for binding or advisory public questions, including for county, municipal, school, township, and park boards to adopt specifically authorized advisory public questions.
  • September  1, 2022 - Last day for independent, established party, and new political party candidates to file withdrawal of nomination papers in the office of the election authority.
  • September 8, 2022 - Last day a person may file a notarized Declaration of Intent to be a write-in candidate with the proper election authority.
  • September 29, 2022 - First day for election authority to mail an official ballot to voters upon request.
  • September 29, 2022 - First day for early voting in the Henry County Clerk's Office
  • October 11, 2022 - Last day to register to vote or change address at the election authority's office
  • October 12, 2022 - First day for grace period voting in the County Clerk's Office
    • During this period an unregistered qualified elector may register to vote as long as they have lived in the precinct for 30 days.
    • A registered voter may submit a change of address during this period also.
    • In both of these cases each shall be done in the Henry County Clerk's Office and in both cases each must vote in the Henry County Clerk's Office at this time.
  • October 23, 2022 - Last day to register to vote online with the State Board of Elections
  • October 25, 2022 - Last day for the State Board of Elections or the election authority to have pollwatcher credentials available for distribution.
  • November 3, 2022 - Last day for the County Clerk's Office to receive an application to vote by mail and also to mail a ballot
  • November 7, 2022 - Last day for early voting at the Henry County Clerk's Office
  • November 8, 2022 - Last day for grace period voting 6 am to 7 pm at the Henry County Courthouse
