Emergency Medical Services Personnel Honored By Trinity Regional Health System

To celebrate the beginning of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, on Saturday, May 13, Trinity honored those Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), paramedics, volunteers, and other outstanding members of the community who have provided loyal and courageous service to citizens of Illinois. Those who received awards include:

Outstanding Community Service of the Year:

Gib Cady, Sheriff, Henry County, and the Rock Island Fire Department Local No. 26 Officers and Members were honored for their outstanding effort on behalf of the communities they serve.

Sheriff Cady is the key person responsible for making his deputies and sergeants enhanced First Responders who are equipped with Automated Electronic Defibrillators (AED) in each of their squad cars. By enlisting the help of area senators and representatives, Sheriff Cady received a grant to help fund education and equipment not only for his service but also for all police agencies in Henry County. To date, all Henry County Sheriff’s Deputies, Geneseo, Atkinson, Annawan, Orion and Illinois Conservation Police Departments are trained as first responders and use AEDs.

In addition, he is securing funds to have cellular phones available in every classroom in the County to offer advanced protection to schools in case of an emergency.

The members of the Rock Island Fire Department Local No. 26 have tirelessly worked to organize a golf tournament from which proceeds help diabetic children from throughout the area go to camp. For the past nine years, this group has been helping many area children go to camp to learn more about their disease in a fun and supportive atmosphere. This group has been directly responsible for sending approximately 36 children from both the Iowa and Illinois Quad-Cities to camp.
