Correctional Officer: Appications are now CLOSED for the position of Correctional Officer at the Henry County Sheriff's Office. Telecommunicator duties include handling 9-1-1 and other radio and telephone communications, data entry in local, state, and nationwide computer systems, and insuring public safety by providing rapid and accurate responses to emergencies. The Henry County Sheriff's Office is also one of three 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) and handles emergency 9-1-1 calls for all of Henry County except for within the city limits of Geneseo and Kewanee, which have their own PSAP's. Henry County Telecommunicators are responsible for receiving and dispatching calls to over 40 police, fire, and emergency medical services in the county. Henry County Telecommunicators are also called upon to dispatch and coordinate support services such as helicopter ambulances, utility companies, towing companies, and local, county and state highway departments. The Enhanced 9-1-1 system is capable of handling multiple calls for service and can continue to function even in the event of a failure of the primary 9-1-1 equipment.
