The first day to absentee vote
is December 24, 2009, for the General Primary Election, which will be
held on February 2, 2010. The last day to accept applications for
absentee ballots through the mail is Thursday, January 28th, 2010, and
the last day for in person absentee voting in the Office of the County
Clerk, is Monday, February 1st, 2010.
Hours for absentee voting at the
Office of the County Clerk are Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. –
4:30 P.M. The Henry County Courthouse will be closed December 24 and
December 25, 2009 in observance of Christmas, also January 18th,
2010 in observance of Martin Luther King Day.
Illinois law now permits a
person to request and vote an absentee ballot without specifying a
reason for the absence from the polling place on Election Day. Any
elector may by mail, or by personal delivery, make an application to the
County Clerk for an official ballot for the voter’s precinct to be voted
at such election.
