Real Estate Property Tax Bills payable for
2009 were mailed May 8, 2009. Due dates were as follows:
First
Installment: June 11, 2009
Second Installment: Sept 11, 2009
REMINDER TO HENRY COUNTY TAX PAYERS
Henry County Treasurer Rich VerHeecke
would like to remind property tax payers that Thursday, June
11th is the first installment due date. Payments must be in our
office by that date to avoid penalty charges that cannot be
waived because of Illinois State Statues. Payments processed
through the mail will also have to be post marked by June 11,
2009 to avoid the penalty. Banks can accept first installment
payments, but after Thursday they must also include the penalty
amount that is stated on the tax bill stubs.
Additional parking has been made available on the North side
of the Courthouse for people who wish to come to our office to
pay taxes.
Please remember that we need the tax stubs to receipt the
payments properly without additional costs. This is true for
all payment options. We have more than the usual taxpayers who
are paying both installments at the same time, but to do so, we
need both tax stubs included with the payment.
You will find information regarding all payment options on the
back of the tax bill along with general information about your
responsibility on Real Estate taxes. Please refer to this
information before calling our office if you have questions
about your taxes.
You may also locate information on the Henry County Website
about tax bill payments that is now updated on a daily basis.
That Website is
www.henrycty.com and is under the “Payment Search” link.
We
appreciate your co-operation.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT
THE 2008 HENRY COUNTY REAL ESTATE TAX BILLS HAVE BEEN PREPARED
FOR MAILING
Henry
County Real Estate Tax Bills were printed on May 6 and processed
for mailing on May 8, 2009. There were over 28000 bills
printed and mailed before the postal rate increase.
The 1st
installment will be due June 11th and the 2nd
installment will be due September 11, 2009. Payment
procedures are the same as in past years and all the information
is on the back of the tax bills. All credit card and
online payments also require a parcel number.
Additional information was included in an insert that was put in
the envelope for each property owner. The insert contains
information about the existing exemptions for each homeowner,
plus briefly explains the new exemptions that were put into
effect for this year’s tax collection. Please call
appropriate numbers that are listed if you have questions.
Every
effort is made by the County offices to insure the accuracy of
information that is made available to our systems.
As addresses change, ownership, or status of exemptions, the
county offices need to be notified so the records can be
updated.
We mail
tax bills to every property owner in the County so they can
review the accuracy of the information and if someone else is to
pay the taxes, like a mortgage company, or previous owner it is
the responsibility of the current property owner to copy or
forward it on to the right people.
This
year’s tax collection will approach 60 Million dollars and every
dollar plus interest will be distributed to the 175 taxing
districts within the boundaries of Henry County. Where the
tax dollars are distributed from your tax bill receipts is shown
on the front of the tax bill along with the figures from last
year for comparison.
