Education:
Eugene L. Stockton graduated from Annawan High School in 1971. He
attended Augustana College in Rock Island until 1975. He then
attended the University of Dayton School of Law until 1978.
Work Experience: Attorney Stockton, upon passing
the bar, went to work in the Lee County State's Attorney's Office on
November 1, 1978 until December 1, 1980 when he began serving as the Lee
County State's Attorney after being elected the previous November. He
served as the Lee County State's Attorney for 8 years when he went into
private practice with Don J. McRae & Associates on December 1, 1988. In
January of 1990, Attorney Stockton added the position of part-time
Public Defender of Henry County to his private practice. Attorney McRae
passed away April 15, 2001 and Attorney Stockton took over the firm as
the Stockton Law Office. On December 1, 2003, Attorney Stockton took the
full-time position of Henry County Public Defender and permanently
closed the Stockton Law Office.
