Properties are valued as
of January 1 of each year

New construction is valued
as of January 1 and again upon completion of the construction. The
assessed value will be pro-rated for the year.

PROPERTY OWNERS HAVE 30
DAYS FROM THE ANNUAL DATE OF PUBLICATION OF ASSESSMENTS TO FILE AN
APPEAL WITH THE LOCAL BOARD OF REVIEW.
Generally, these are published in fall to early winter.

If a property owner files
an appeal with the local Board of Review
and is not satisfied with the decision, you may file an appeal with
the State Property Tax Appeal Board. You must file within 30 days of
the date on your Board of Review notice.

If you request a split or
combination of your property, it must be requested in writing to the
CCAO, prior to September 30 each year.
